Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the listed co-ordinates.

Pinelands is split roughly through its centre by the Elsieskraal River. The river rises in the Tygerberg Hills and flows in a generally south westerly direction to its confluence with the Black River just south of Pinelands. Much of the course of the Elsieskraal River has been canalised during the 1960s to prevent flooding.

In Pinelands the canal is a popular route for runners and walkers and whether by design or coincidence the length of the canal between the furtherest bridges is 2.5km. A number of years ago, distance markers were placed along the canal and various different routes identified to cater for all exercise requirements. Over time, these have been damaged, or simply disappeared. In 2009, the markers were re-established with an additional two routes included for those who wanted to run up to 10km.

Well done to paddawan who found it first and without the geocheck!
