Sallatunturissa on Suomen ainoa nopeuslaskurinne. Rinteessä on pidetty lukuisia kansainvälisiä kilpailuja. Vuonna 2003 rinteessä pidettiin nopeuslaskun MM-kilpailut. Maailmanmestaruuden voitti Jukka Viitasaari Suomesta nopeudella 167,91 km/h ja naisten mestaruuden hänen sisarensa Jaana Viitasaari nopeudella 164,40 km/h.
Rinteen nopeusennätys 169,57 km/h on vuodelta 2007 italialaisella Simone Origonella.
Pujottelurinteessä on pidetty vuonna 2006 pujottelun Eurooppa Cupin osakilpailu sekä lukuisia Suomen mestaruuskilpailuja. Viimeisin SM kilpailu pidettiin keväällä 2007.
Kilpailujen järjestelyistä on vastannut Sallan Karhut.
HALUATKO OSALLISTUA
Jos haluat, voit tehdä oman kätkön näihin gps -retkipisteisiin. Nimeä se Sallan retkipisteet – “retkipisteen nimi” ja siinä se. Kätkön täytyy sijaita retkipisteiden läheisyydessä. Tavoitteena on saada mahdollisimman moni gps –retkipiste kätkötettyä. Kopioi tämä HALUATKO OSALLISTUA –teksti kätkötiedotteen loppuun. Kätkön tekeminen ei ole edellytys tämän kätkön loggaamiselle. Retkipisteitä on kaikkiaan 12.

Sallatunturi speed skiing slope is the only speed skiing slope in Finland. Many international races have been arranged in this slope. In the year 2003 the speed skiing World championship was in Sallatunturi. Finnish Jukka Viitasaari (speed 167.91 km/ h) won the men’s race. His sister Jaana Viitasaari was the ladies winner (speed 164.40 km/h).
Italian Simone Origone run the speed record of this slope (169.57 km/h) in the year 2007.
A number of slalom races has also been arranged here, Finnish slalom championships and two European Cup.
The organizer of these competitions has been the sport club Sallan Karhut.

If you do, you can make your own cache to these gps points. Name it “Sallan Retkipisteet- the name of the cache” and that’s it! The cache must be situated near the hiking points. The goal is to make as much caches as is possible. Copy this Do you want to participate-text to the end of the cache info sheet. Making a cache is not a perquisite for logging this cache. There are 12 caches in total.
