This cache is dedicated to Laconia's 89th Annual Motorcycle Week! This is the biggest tourist week of the year in New Hampshire. If the weather is good it is estimated that 300,000 people will visit the Lakes Region in the course of motorcycle week. The 89th Annual Loudon Classic Race will take place on Saturday at NHMS. Ther are plenty of activities and events going on all week to keep all 300,000 busy and interested.
According to Wikipedia" Laconia Motorcycle Week is a motorcycle rally held annually in June in Laconia NH, USA. The rally has its origin in the Loudon Classic motorcycle race started in 1923 and the Gypsy tour, where many motorcyclists passed through Laconia. Events were scheduled, including races, shows and a motorcycle hill climb competition.
The Laconia rally has its roots in June 1916, when a few hundred motorcyclists gathered at Weirs Beach in Laconia. Seven years later, the event was officially recognized by the Federation of American Motorcyclists (to be later called the Americn Motorcyclist Association) as part of the Gypsy Tour, where motorcyclists celebrated races and hill climbs for an entire weekend."
If you are one of the many motorcyclists in the area for bike week we say welcome and have fun geocaching while in the area! If you are finding this cache any other week we invite you to return in June next year to join in the fun of motorcycle week.
Cache is located on one of the very busy roads during motorcycle week that will lead you into the Weirs. There is a little pull off place from the main road right by GZ.
**Please be aware of motorcycles on the road so everyone stays safe!**
Cache is a diabetic type container that only contains a log book so BYOP. Be careful of the poison ivy in the cache area. Congratulations to POJ & MMJ and EDJ from Boston & FL on their FTF!
