.....The victim was being removed from the waiting room at Rhyl railway station on the coast of North Wales. Under the body was found an envelope. The detective took the envelope that was handed to him and opened it carefully trying not to destroy any evidence.
On a table he emptied the contents:
A Rail ticket to Holyhead dated Today. - "It looks like he caught the Irish Mail from Euston this morning....I think it leaves at 9am.... I wonder why he got off here at Rhyl?....."
"Bank notes..... one... two.... three.... four.... five," he counted,"... Five Thousand Three Hundred pounds ... mmm alot of money....."
"...and a race card from Yesterday's Royal Ascot meeting, Looks like He'd enjoyed a Day at The Races with the Queen".
"Here ", the inspector passed the race card to his assistant," look he has circled some horses names for each of the races, try and find out whether they won and where he got this money from, its a lot of money for a travelling salesman for a jam firm to be carrying around".
The assistant took the proffered race card and looked at it and noted the races and horses in his notebook.
