The Town of Monson just received the Designation as an official AT town. They share this honor with only 21 other town along the 2,184 mile trail! Many books talk about Monson Maine since it is the last town that the trail comes near during the last 112 miles to Mt. Katahdin. There was a lady who became famous for giving home made pies to Hikers. The Shaw Boarding home and others are famous for hospitality towards hikers.
The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, generally known as the Appalachian Trail or simply the AT, is a marked hiking trail in the eastern United States extending between Springer Mountain in Georgia and Mount Katahdin in Maine.[2] It is approximately 2,184 miles (3,515 km)[a] long. (WIKI) This is a easy GRC located before you reach where the trail crosses over RT 15N.
