International Geocaching Day - August 18th

Geocachers unite on August 18th to celebrate International Geocaching Day. It's a day devoted enjoying what you love - geocaching. There's even a digital prize. Geocachers who log an "Attended" at an Event Cache or a "Found it" for another cache type on International Geocaching Day earn a souvenir for their Geocaching.com profile page. International Geocaching Day is the perfect occasion to hike with family and friends, enjoy the outdoors, and log one, two, or a dozen smileys.

Geocachers unem se em 18 de Agosto para comemorar o Dia Internacional de Geocaching. É um dia dedicado a desfrutar do que você gosta - geocaching. Há ainda um souvenir. Os geocachers que registrarem um "Atendido" numa cache de eventos ou um "achou" para outro tipo de cache no Dia Internacional Geocaching ganham uma lembrança para a sua página de perfil Geocaching.com.O Dia Internacional Geocaching é a ocasião perfeita para caminhar com a família e amigos, desfrutar do ar livre, e registrar um, dois, ou uma dúzia de smileys.

COSTA DA CAPARICA

This enormous coastline is made up of a group of beaches, each with its own feel. Nothing separates them except for imaginary lines, with wooden walkways taking you down its 30 kilometers, as does a tourist train during the summer. The most crowded beach is by Caparica town, and is therefore not recommended. Move south and you'll find more seclusion and better beach bars. Two favorites are Praia da Morena and Praia da Sereia, with young crowds filling their bars to see and be seen. The further you go the less crowded it gets, with Fonte da Telha being the favorite among those who don't like to wear anything. That's also a popular beach for kite and windsurfing, while Beach 19 before that is the unofficial gay beach. Further south is Meco, popular with young crowds and nudists. Unlike Cascais and Estoril west of Lisbon, this coast south of the city is not an international resort with grand hotels. It's mostly frequented by locals in the summer, and accommodation is mostly 2-stars, with only a couple of 4-star hotels.

GETTING THERE: To reach Costa da Caparica from Lisbon you can either drive across 25 de Abril Bridge or use the train service that operates in summer. Another option is to take the ferry from Cais do Sodré station to Cacilhas on the other side of the river, and hop on bus 135 from there (a 45-minute journey).

COSTA DA CAPARICA

Esta enorme costa é composta por um conjunto de praias, cada uma com o seu próprio ambiente. Nada as separa a não ser divisórias imaginárias, estando ligadas ao longo de 30Km por um pequeno comboio turístico durante o verão. A mais frequentada é a praia no centro da cidade da Costa da Caparica, e é por isso melhor evitá-la. Continuando para sul, encontra-se mais espaço, privacidade e melhores bares. Duas favoritas são a Praia da Morena e a Praia da Sereia, muito frequentadas por jovens que enchem os seus bares para verem e serem vistos. Mais a sul está a Praia da Fonte da Telha, uma zona procurada por nudistas e para a prática de kite e windsurfing. Antes dessa encontra-se ainda a Praia 19, conhecida como a praia gay. Ainda mais a sul encontra-se a Praia do Meco, frequentada por jovens e nudistas. Ao contrário da costa do Estoril e Cascais, esta zona a sul de Lisboa não é um resort internacional com grandes hotéis. É sobretudo frequentada por lisboetas no verão, sendo a maioria da oferta de alojamento da categoria de duas estrelas, com a exceção de dois hotéis 4 estrelas.

COMO CHEGAR: Para chegar à Costa da Caparica a partir de Lisboa, atravessa-se a Ponte 25 de Abril ou apanha-se o comboio durante o verão. Outra opção é ir de cacilheiro do Cais do Sodré até Cacilhas e aí apanhar o autocarro 135 até à praia (uma viagem de 45 minutos).
