Geocache Description:

Here is a narrow valley with just enough space for a brook and a road. When you pass through you might lose your radio signal, phone service may decline, and yes, your GPS signal will be poor. Steep hillsides and lots of trees led a neighbor of mine to call this area The Land of Lost Reception.

The cache will be found in an area with little to no satellite signal. Oddly enough, a new cell tower nearby allowed me to receive a phone call while in the hiding place. Anyway, you will be able to see the obvious spot from the roadside parking spot. Now you have to get there. Your feet might get wet. Then you might wish for a flashlight, partly to see where the cache might be and partly to avoid scary spiders. You are looking for a small plastic container.

There is room for one or two parked cars near the cache. Be sure to keep your car off the traveled portion of the road since you are on a curve.

The hide location is winter friendly, as in the hide is in a protected location. Getting to the hiding spot may be difficult in winter and may require crampons and ice axes! Don't forget what I said above about getting your feet wet. Don't worry -- the cache hiding spot is not a spot for hibernating bears! There will be no parking near the cache in winter. There is room about 600 feet away at the Bernardston/Leyden town line, near my Leyden Line cache.

The cache is hidden on the edge of the Shattuck Brook Wildlife Management Area.
