Das König Friedrich August Denkmal im Hohwald
Unweit der Hohwaldschänke befindet sich etwas versteckt das König Friedrich August Denkmal. In den schlichten Gedenkstein ist eine Tafel aus Diabas eingelassen, mit der Inschrift:
Zur fortdauernden Erinnerung an Sachsens verewigten König FRIEDRICH AUGUST den Gerechten. Beschützer der Forste und Jagd.
Die Tafel war ursprünglich aus Sandstein, wurde 1918 zerschlagen und danach in leicht veränderter Form durch eine Diabas Tafel ersetzt. Nach 1945 wurde die Tafel aus ideologischen Gründen erneut zerstört, wie auch unzählige andere Denkmäler in der DDR. Erst nach 1989 konnte eine neue Tafel angefertigt und die Anlage durch angagierte Bürger wieder instandgesetzt werden.
Unter der Tafel befindet sich in den Stein gemeißelt eine Jahreszahl in Römischen Ziffern: CDEF

Not far from the inn "Hohwaldschänke" there is something hidden the King Friedrich August monument. In the simple memorial stone a board of diabase is recessed, with the inscription:
On the continued remembrance of King of Saxony Friedrich August immortalized the righteous. Protectors of the forests and hunting.
The table was originally made of sandstone, was smashed in 1918 and then replaced in a slightly different form by a diabase panel. After 1945, the panel was destroyed again, to political pressures, as well as in many other places in the GDR. Only after 1989 was a new board is made and the arrangement can be repaired by re-engaged citizens.
Under the panel is located in the stone set a date in Roman numerals: CDEF
