SimmonsFamily1: After more thought, I have decided it is time to archive this cache. It has had to be replaced too many times. I want to open up this location for someone else to hopefully put a cache here.

This is our first hide. Your suggestions or comments are welcome. This joins several other caches on the outskirts of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands.
The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve has had a varied and interesting history. It was once part of the Rancho La Bolsa Chica. It includes coastal wetlands as well as adjacent upland areas and is about 1200 acres in size. Over the last 100 years, the land has been used for hunting, oil development, cattle grazing and military artillery emplacements.
Since the 1960s there have been efforts to preserve the wetlands and adjacent lands from future development. In 1970 300 acres along Pacific Coast Highway were set aside to create the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. In 1997, the state of California purchased an additional 880 acres of the wetlands. Wetland restoration of Bolsa Chica began in 2004 and was completed in 2006 and tidal waters entered parts of Bolsa Chica for the first time in over 100 years.
Today the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is under the oversight of the California Department of Fish and Game and is a popular place for hiking, photography and birdwatching. In the spring and fall, the Reserve is home to many migratory birds. It is a favorite place for our family to visit.
The cache is located near the edge of the parking lot. This wasn't our first choice. We had wanted to hide it well inside the park after a nice hike, but we were unable to get permission to do so. Please watch out for muggles and replace the cache as you have found. There is a $5 bill for the FTF. Camo to blend. Bring your own writing utensil.

6/14/13 Update: Cache moved about 6 feet to a more concealed area. Same time of camo'd container. It is now a little more bushy. Sorry.!
7/11/14 Update: The cache location had to be moved because the former location is now off-limits according to posted signs unless you are a bird. It is same camo but is now located near the base of a different bush. Coordinates have been updated.
