Quick cache near the Oak Creak trail, outside of Red Rock Canyon NCA.
You can get to this cache from the Oak Creek Canyon trailhead from inside the Red Rock NCA, or like me you can park about 4 mi beyond RRNCA at the Oak Creek sign and walk from there. It's maybe a mile from inside the park or 1.5 from Hwy 159.
In the beginning (from Hwy 159), the trail is pretty rocky; it used to be an old road so watch you don't roll an ankle. It quickly smooths out though, and you'll see a trail to the right that your GPSr is trying to take you on. Let it. It is smooth, soft and sandy. A very pleasant walk.
This cache is in the bit of trees (a copse). In these trees is well... you'll just have to visit to see it, I'm not telling.
Please don't disturb anything, it's not my scene... but I'm not into tempting fate, either. :)
When you find the cache, please replace it carefully. I suspect it will get muggled quicly here.
Oh, yeah.... did you notice the tree? What does a tree see?
1 Mar 2013 update: First, I should have congratulated Zzyzx989 long ago for both... his perseverance, and his FTF!!!
Next, it seems the area is changed so the hint "What does a tree see" is no longer valid. However, if you want to "log" a find, you'll have to just look around... on the ground... ;)
11 Nov 2015 update: I've once again replaced and rehid this cache. As the area changes due to pressure from other hikers. so too should the location of the cache change. ;)
