This cache won't be too hard to find if you've found this type of cache before, but if you haven't, the find may be slightly challenging. Barring exceptionally bad storms, this should be winter friendly.
From the cache area you will be able to see, just outside of the common, quite an imposing statue of
Roger Conant (1592 - 1679), who is credited with founding Salem in 1626 as well as being the first governor of English settlers in Salem from 1626-1628. Across the street is a museum housed in an impressive Gothic Revival style former church. Within the common, not very far from the cache is a war memorial, and you can also see Salem Common's picturesque 1926 bandstand.
The cache's name is a reference to Salem's nickname of "The Witch City", a reminder of the infamous witch trials which began in 1692. Also relevant is that a little bit of the movie Hocus Pocus (1993) was filmed in Salem Common.
You will likely be able to find close, free, on-street parking--just be sure to read any signs. If you should visit during the month of October, parking may be more difficult. If seeking this cache during that time, you'll need to use your best super-stealth skills!
