Situado en un impresionante bosque de hayas en el monte Antzerri, utilizando como inusual lienzo los mismos troncos de los árboles, aparece pintada la reproducción del famoso cuadro Guernica de Pablo Picasso.
Housed among an impressive forest of beech trees on the Antzerri mountain, a reproduction of Pablo Picasso’s “Guernica” appears painted on the rare canvas of a series of tree trunks.
Este paseo partiendo de la localidad de Zilbeti para acceder hasta la obra, proporciona el disfrute del silencio de la naturaleza en estado puro de esta zona poco transitada por excursionistas y turistas.
El impresionante bosque mixto que atravesamos durante este recorrido de unos 40 minutos y menos de 300 metros de desnivel, nos permite apreciar la importancia de la conservación de este bosque con su riqueza en fauna y flora que la hacen gozar de la protección como Z.E.C. (Zona de Especial Conservación) por su importante valor medioambiental.
Al acercarnos al punto marcado por las coordenadas, irán apareciendo los fragmentos de esta mundialmente conocida pintura realizada en los troncos de las hayas, y al llegar al punto final del recorrido la obra se presenta completa al unir todos los retales dispuestos en distintos planos.
El “Guernica” símbolo de la destrucción brutal y sin sentido, plantea la necesidad de cuidar este entorno que corre el riesgo de desaparecer, al igual que este cuadro a escala “natural” desaparecerá poco a poco al ser la pintura aplicada en los árboles biodegradable.
Para poder acceder al cache final es necesario encontrar el primer contenedor cercano al parking, en éste figuran las coordenadas finales del caché escondido cerca del cuadro. La misión de este Cache consiste en tomar una fotografía de esta obra efímera y explicar la experiencia vivida al descubrir este paisaje en riesgo de desaparición.
The stroll to reach the work of art begins in the quaint village of Zilbeti. One is able to enjoy the sheer silence of nature at this off the beaten track location. For approximately 40 minutes expect to walk through astonishing mixed grove until you reach a height of 960 m.
The trail enables one to appreciate the importance of conserving this forest which in fact, owing to its wealth in flora and fauna, has been awarded special environmental protection status.
As we near the coordinates, the pieces of the painting will gradually appear on different trunks; the final location being a fantastic combination of jigsaw pieces which in their completion reveal none other than the world famous Picasso at a “natural scale”.
The Guernica is a symbol of the senseless and brutal destruction faced by nature, and raises the need to care for and protect this beautiful landscape in order to diminish the risk of it gradually disappearing, just as the artwork itself will gradually disappear owing to the biodegradable nature of the paint used. .
To achive the final cache you have to find the first one hiden close to the parking, inside of it there's a paper with the final cache coordinates. The mission of this Cache is to photograph this ephemeral work and share the experience you had while walking in an area which is at imminent risk of extinction.
