The massive Steer Swamp Conservation Area includes nearly 43 acres of woodlands, ponds, brooks and meadows at the northern end of the Marblehead peninsula. Among the many bodies of water found in the park is Black Joe's Pond, which was named after Revolutionary War veteran Joseph Brown.
The conservation area can be reached from trail heads on Stony Brook Road, Beacon Street, Cheever Avenue and Blueberry Road. Black Joe's Pond can be reached from Norman Street.
