Another great trail to get you to the Taconic Crest Trail.
Would suggest parking at Phelps Trail 1, taking that to TCT, hike South on the TCT, and then come down this gorgeous trail and hike a few tenths back to parking on Oblong Road. But, we also gave parking for this trail just in case. There are so many ways to the TCT, but this and Phelps are two "secret" favorites ! Bring a pen ! The hint is in the cache name ! In all, if doing this trail alone, you will hike 1.6 miles each way (3.2 total) with a vertical gain of almost exactly 1000 feet ! Pretty steady climb the whole way with a few nice restful sections that do seem to come at the right time. If you do this as a loop with Phelps Trail, the total hike is about 4 miles with the same elevation gain. So, if you haven't done Phelps, thats the obvious way to go ! Enjoy !
