The Maryland Geocaching Society invites everyone to join us on Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 am for the MGS 2013 Summer Picnic.
We would like to invite everyone who has an interest in the game of geocaching to come and join in. You do not have to be a member of the MGS to attend.No matter if you have 10 or 10,000 finds, everyone is welcome! New to the game? New to the area? Visiting from out of town? Feel free to join us at Patuxent River Park in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
The Patuxent River Park consists of more than 6,000 acres of woodlands, marshes, and swamp along the Patuxent River in Prince George’s County.The park offers a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities including miles of hiking trails, camping, bicycling, horseback riding, fishing, hunting,boating, kayaking, canoeing, archaeology and nature study. In addition, there is the Patuxent Rural Life Museums, a collection of late 19th century and early20th century buildings and historic structures dedicated to preserving the rural heritage of southern Prince George's County.
Our tentative schedule for the day:
9am - Setup.
10am - Grills fired up
10:30am to 3pm - Silent Auction, caching, 50/50, eating, hanging out with others.
3:15pm - Annual caching awards followed by door prizes and general announcements. Be sure to visit the MGS site for more information.
The silent auction will be going on throughout the day, everything from geocoins to cache containers.
Please bring a dish to share (post a "Will Attend" log if you are planning to come and please include the dish you plan to bring.) The event will be held rain or shine! Hope to see you there!
