Vila Berta or Villa Bertha:
Joaquim Francisco Tojal (the name of the village comes from the name of the daughter of this industry).
1887 - acquisition of Quinta do Fidalgo, the slope of Grace, by Joaquim Francisco Tojal; 1902/1908 - construction of the set.
Neighborhood, workers' village. Civil residential architecture, eclectic. The villa was designed and built by Joaquim Francisco Tojal. Its construction was not earmarked to house workers belonging to any plant, but has directed to strata of the petty bourgeoisie. The buildings feature a remarkable formal quality and materials compared to other villages.
Thus, Vila Berta falls over the field of industrial assets used by materials such as iron and tiles stamp resulting from an industrial period of operation than by inclusion in the prototype housing workers, although it is characterized by a street internal, not establishing direct contact with the main street.

Bairro, vila operária. Arquitectura civil residencial, ecléctica. A vila foi projectada e construída por Joaquim Francisco Tojal. A sua construção não se destinou a albergar operários pertencentes a qualquer unidade fabril, mas direccionou-se a estratos da pequena burguesia. As construções apresentam uma assinalável qualidade formal e de materiais, comparativamente às restantes vilas.
Assim, a Vila Berta insere-se mais no domínio do património industrial pelos materiais utilizados, como o ferro e os azulejos de estampilha, resultantes de um período de laboração industrial, do que pela inclusão nos protótipos das habitações operárias, apesar de se caracterizar por uma rua interna, não se estabelecendo o contacto directo com a rua principal.
Habitação operária desenvolvendo-se em 2 bandas, separadas por rua interior e com tipologias distintas: a) do lado Leste, edifícios de 2 pisos e cave (funcionando como habitação colectiva - 2 fogos por piso e escadas comuns; os telhados das várias unidades, a 2 águas, formam uma unidade longitudinal) ; b) do lado Oeste, edifícios de 3 pisos, em que o 1º é afastado e separado em altura do plano da rua mediante terraço ajardinado (funcionando como habitação colectiva - 2 fogos por piso e escadas comuns; o 2º piso apresenta, sobre cada uma das zonas de acesso, plataformas de planta quadrada apoiadas em pilares de ferro fundido implantados à face da rua). O acesso principal ao interior do bairro processa-se por passagem que se abre, entre 2 portas vulgares, no piso térreo do prédio de rendimento nº 55 - 59 da R. do Sol à Graça. O nome Villa Bertha é legível num registo de azulejos com decoração floral Arte Nova.
