In the 1898 received steam-engine, in 1929 combustion engines. Sorry, this requires no sails, curse removed. The tower buiding remained in original form.
The Hortobágy Mill was built in 1864 as one of the last windmills. This was the largest windmill in Central Europe. Steam engine from 1898, 1929 and received an explosive engines. They did not need a sail, so they are removed. Száémalom the building in its original state however remained. Debrecen Hungary was the center of the eastern part in the food production through centuries, including by approx. 100 large and small mills operated in the city. Majority of these are disappeared by the end of the XIX. century. The remaining two of the city's largest mill, the Hortobágy Mill and the Stephen steam mill. The latter II. damaged in World War II, so the former is more guarded traditions of Debrecen mill indutry. Ceased operation in 1959, served as a warehouse for four decades, later was empty. June 2013 has been used from the outside of the building renovated 44-seater 4 * hotel starts operation.

A Hortobágy Malom 1964-ben épült mint egyike az utolsó szélmalmoknak. Ez volt a legnagyobb szélmalom Közép-Európában. 1898-tól gőzgépet, 1929-től robbanómotorokat kapott. Ezeknek nem volt szükségük vitorlára, ezért azokat eltávolították. A száémalom épülete azonban eredeti állapotában megmaradt.
Debrecen Magyarország keleti részének élelmiszeripari központja volt évszázadikon keresztül, ennek keretében kb. 100 kisebb-nagyobb malom működött a városban.Ezek nagyrésze a XIX. század végéig eltünt, megmaradt a város két legnagyobb malma, a Hortobágy Malom és az István gőzmalom. Utóbbi a II. vilgháborúban megséeült, így az előbbi őrizte tovább Debrecen malomipari hagyományait. 1959-ben fejezte be működését, négy évtizeden át raktárként funkcionált, majd üresen állt. 2013 júniusától a kivülről már régebben felújított épületben 44 férőhelyes 4* szálló kezdi meg működédét.
