Své první motoristické akce se město Most dočkalo nedlouho po druhé světové válce, když byl 25. května 1947 na trati kolem pivovaru odstartován první rychlostní závod motocyklů. O pět roků později se v Mostě uskutečnilo také první klání automobilů.
V průběhu dalších let se místa konání závodů často měnila, jezdilo se ve městě i v jeho těsné blízkosti a mostecké závody automobilů byly zanedlouho zařazeny do mistrovského kalendáře. První mistrovské body se rozdělovaly v roce 1965 na okruhu ve Stalingradské čtvrti. Na začátku sedmdesátých let se začalo o bojovat na okruhu, jenž byl vytyčen na komunikaci dálničního typu u nového vlakového nádraží. Trať v délce tři tisíce čtyři sta padesát metrů, získala velkou popularitu i v zahraničí a v roce 1979 se stala poprvé dějištěm jednoho z podniků prestižního seriálu závodů sportovních vozů a sportovních prototypů Interserie. Ovšem při stále vyšších nárocích kladených především na bezpečnost neměl klasický okruh příliš velkou naději na dlouhou existenci. Proto se začala na opačném okraji města stavět speciální závodní dráha. Její dobudování v roce 1983 definitivně uzavřelo dlouhou historii závodů na improvizovaných silničních tratích. Než byl před stotisícovou diváckou kulisou odstartován první závod na novém speciálním okruhu, konalo se v Mostě a jeho blízkém okolí od druhé světové války celkem 57 závodů, z nichž bylo 35 automobilových a 22 motocyklových.
