Geocache Description:

I had originally planned the series to be 'I'd rather not...' but instead settled on 'The Hazards of Caching'.

I imagine for most people this will be one of the more difficult hazards in the series. I've based this cache on 'The Sieve (visit link) Though it was gone by the time we arrived in Wellington we know of its legacy so we've attempted to stay true to the original cache.

The cache should be an easy find but the retrieval may offer a challenge. The cache is a black otter box inside a weighted red and yellow 2.5l container.

The logbook is waterproof paper, but before opening please ensure that you'll be able to keep the cache and its contents dry while open. This may mean a swim back to shore.

The outer container is attached independently from the cache. There is no need to release the green line. To retrieve the cache you will need to release the black line and unscrew the red lid of the outer container. Please ensure that the outer container remains upright so the weighting objects remain in place.

The cache can be retrieved without getting wet (I stayed dry while placing it) but come prepared for a swim, even if attempting in a small water craft.

Alternative Hazard - Cache Creep

The cache will move in the tide, so the coords won't be perfect but shouldn't be too far off.

The cache is placed close to the surface (about 1m down). Please ensure you replace the cache at this depth at least, if you're keen enough to take it deeper you may so long as it remains possible to get it without diving equipment.

Remember to pick up the additional information in the log book, and why not try the Moorehouse Pointer (visit link) while you're in the area.
