GeoTour Challenge Kickoff Event




WHY?
"100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years" 2013 is the 100th anniversary of Washington State Parks, and as part of the celebration, WSGA and Washington State Parks are cohosting the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour:, a statewide challenge featuring 100 new caches placed on 100 State Park properties, with a commemorative geocoin for finding 50 caches (silver coin) and 100 caches (gold coin). The GeoTour launches on June 7, and you can find out more about it and pick up all the supplies you will need for this challenge at this kickoff event, plus pick up your passport and see the prize coin.

Please note: June 8 is a State Parks free day in recognition of National Get Outdoors Day. A Discover Pass is not required for vehicle access to Washington state parks on free days.

Camano Island State Park overview:
Camano Island State Park is a 173-acre camping park with 6,700 feet of rocky shoreline and beach. The park provides sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and offers opportunities for shellfish harvesting.
Park hours/updates:
Summer: 6:30 a.m. to dusk.
Winter: 8 a.m. to dusk.
The park is open year round for camping and day use. Some campsites are closed in winter.

INTERESTING FACT:
Stanwood and Camano Island residents build a park in one day on July 27, 1949. On July 27, 1949, more than 500 Stanwood and Camano Island residents participate in a unique community effort to build a park in one day.
