At the southwest corner of Balaton near Balatonszentgyörgy, at the beginning of Road 76 you'll find one of the best vista-points of the west shore.
There is a tower as well, but the you'll see less from there, because there are some wattles in front of it.
The locals call this spot "Somos" or "Somos Hill", which is actually the north end of the Marcal table-land.
The whole western basin from the Keszthely Bay to the ferry of Tihany, the Keszthely Mountains, Tapolca, the basin named after it, the Balaton highland, Kabhegy, on the south: Fonyód, Boglár and the most of the Somogy Hills is visible from here.
On bright days you can see with binoculars as far as the towers of the Tihany Abbey.
