Geocache Description:

Sticks and Stones is a Multi-cache located at Indian Brook Reservior in Essex.  There are several other caches at the park, but this is the first multi-cache to be placed there.  The locations of the hides were choosen so that geocachers must make the full 1.5 mile loop around the reservior.  While the terrian and hike are relatively easy the hides themselves are not.  These are meant to be challenging and will take even advanced geocachers some searching to locate.

Indian Brook Reservior is managed by the Essex Town Parks Department and is open year round to the public.  During the summer months a small daily entrance fee may be charged.  There are three large parking areas at the reservior, a lower, middle and upper lot.  The upper lot at the farthest end of the road is the closest to the first stage.   On summer days the park sees a lot of use, including hiking, dog walking, boating, swimming and fishing, but there is usually ample parking to accomodate heavy use.

The cache locations are placed so that geocachers must make the full 1.5 mile loop around the lower pond hiking trail.  The terrian of the lower pond loop is realtively easy, but can be muddy, icy or wet depending on the season and appropriate hiking foot wear is recommended.  This multi cache consits of two stages. The first stage provides the locations to the final cache. What this cache lacks in the number of stages it makes up for in the difficulty of the hides.  The coordinates of the first stage will get geocachers "very close" to the first stage, but some searching will be required.   After finding the first stage cachers will have the coordinates to the final stage which should prove almost as difficult to locate.  Geocachers should plan on spending a few hours searching and hiking the park for this challenging multi-cache
