Geocache Description:

WWFM X – Pre-Bloomsday Flash Phoon

Saturday, May 4th from 10:00am to 10:15am

To celebrate PodCacher’s 10th World Wide Flash Mob,
let’s meet at the clock tower in Spokane’s Riverfront Park.

As of May 1st, there are 558 published World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) geocaching events
in 42 countries around the world.

Since the 37th running of the Lilac Bloomsday Run
is the following day, May 5th,
we thought it would be perfect to do a Flash Phoon!

What is a phoon you ask?
It’s the running stance as pictured below.

The Krusen4Kache girls phooning for the first time in 2009 in North Bend, WA.

Wear a Bloomsday shirt if you have one!!!

****************************************************
In your “Will Attend” log,
please include the number of times you’ve been a Bloomsday Finisher!

What you need to know about this event:
Who?
Geocachers and anyone you’d like to bring along
What? A flash mob geocaching event
When? 10:00am - 10:15am, Saturday, May 4, 2013
Where? The listed coordinates (west steps of the clock tower)
Why? For the phoon of it, of course!

The Official Schedule:
9:45am - 9:59am:

Wander about. Act casually like a muggle. Don’t gather at this point. Just hang out in your own little group or by yourself. Part of the fun will be appearing out of nowhere.

10:00am:
The hosts will head to ground zero (west steps of the clock tower) with a cardboard runner (the logbook). This will signify that the event has begun! Come one, come all. Sign the logbook.

10:00am - 10:03am:
Meet & Greet. Discover and trade travel bugs and geocoins. Take photos. CITO the local area.

10:03am - 10:10am:
Listen up for a few announcements and some giveaways including WWFM X Geocoins and Pathtags.

10:10am - 10:13am:
Quickly assemble for a photo. Listen for directions.

10:13am:
The two minute warning will be announced: "2 minutes! Phoon begins in 1 minute!" Prep to leave, but don't "look" like you are prepping. Gather your stuff and perform a last CITO of the area. Plan where you might ”secretly” meet others after we disperse.

10:13:30am:
30 seconds before the phoon is to begin, we’ll scatter ourselves around the clock tower so that the steps are covered with cachers on all sides.

10:14am:
A whistle will alarm the one minute warning and the beginning of the phoon. Strike your phoon pose and attempt to hold it for a minute. No talking. We’re supposed to look like runner statues.

10:15am EXACTLY:
Wait for it! Another whistle will alert the end of the event. LEAVE the area right at 10:15am in a disorderly manner and in different directions (likely the direction you are facing while phooning). Please do not linger at the clock tower.

Other Potentially Useful Information:
  • Carpooling is highly encouraged. It may not hurt to come extra early to find parking. With Bloomsday Check-In and the Bloomsday Trade Show happening at the Convention Center just across the river, the park will be busy, and parking may be difficult to find.
  • This event is only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign the logbook during this time to claim the event.
  • Although participants are welcome to get together for socializing, caching, or whatever before or after the event, the event will officially be over at 10:15am.
  • A WWFM souvenir icon for your Geocaching.com profile will be awarded to all cachers who post an “Attended” log.
