Geocache Description:

This is a 6 stage multi-cache in a spectacular wildlife area in the backwoods of Harvard on the Horse Meadow conservation land. Access and parking is off Sherry road. There is no conservation land sign on the road, but you can park in front of a chained dirt road entrance. About 50 yards in from the road, there is a "Conservation land" sign.

This 2 mile loop around a beautiful beaver-formed lake includes much off-trail walking, a little bushwhacking, a stream crossing or two, a little rock scrambling and a testy log crossing. Some walking poles might help with the log crossing for those who are balance-challenged. Or you can bring some water shoes and wade across, the water is a little more than 1 foot deep.

We have walked most of the conservation lands around these parts, but this one is SPECIAL. The beaver activity is first rate, the wildlife is plentiful, and the land is full of old walls and fun rock formations. Older kids will love this hike but it is probably a little rough for the urchins under 8 years old. The interim stages are all New England native fauna, none of them trivial to find, but all of them hidden "appropriately." You won't know what appropriate means until you discover the critter. The final is a small pelican case.
