Den allra första premiären på Lorensbergsteatern ägde rum den 27 oktober 1916, och var förstås den allra ståtligaste. ”En konstens helgedom, ett diktens tempel”, dundrade Victor Sjöström i sitt inledningstal. Första föreställningen på landets modernaste teater kunde börja.
Teatern byggdes med amerikansk fart, som man kallade det då, när det arbetades i treskift. Hela byggnaden blev faktiskt klar på mindre än ett halvår. Och allt berodde egentligen på att en krögare ville fortsätta servera öl, nubbe och sill till de hungriga göteborgarna i Lorensbergsparken. hämtad från http://www.lorensbergsteatern.se/

The very first premiere of Lorensbergsteatern took place on 27 October 1916, and was of course the very finest. "A sanctuary of art, a poem's temple," thundered Victor Sjostrom in his opening speech. The first performance of the country's most modern theater could begin.
The theater was built with American shipping, as we called it then, when the work in three shifts. The entire building was actually finished in less than six months. And everything was thought that a restaurant owner wanted to continue serving beer, schnapps and herring to the hungry people of Göteborg in Lorensberg Park.
