1. Something, such as a game, toy, or problem, that requires ingenuity and often persistence in solving or assembling.
2. Something that baffles or confuses.
3. The condition of being perplexed; bewilderment.
gaunt·let also gant·let (gôntlt, gänt-) n.
1. A protective glove worn with medieval armor.
2. A protective glove with a flared cuff, used in manual labor, in certain sports, and for driving.
3. A challenge: throw down the gauntlet; take up the gauntlet.
4. A dress glove cuffed above the wrist.
3.5: Cracking the Code
After you determine what must be done, the real work begins. You must apply the chosen solving method, sometimes involving hours of grinding as you struggle to do the math or crack the code. But as you solve more puzzles and learn more methods, this work becomes easier and takes less time. After all, practice makes (better, as nobody's) perfect.
So now you're thinking this isn't so hard after all. Well, good for you. Now things are gonna get serious. You're gonna have to put forth some real effort here, maybe even doing a bit of research.
