The GeoRockers salute Jeo of the JeoMc5!
Jeo was searching for one of our caches that was placed in the Sacramento River overflow area, and tried to save another one that he had previously found... while the overflow area was filling!
The water level had increased from ankle deep to knee deep while he was travelling from the first cache to the second cache... and there was still a half mile to travel before getting out of the overflow area. :p
It seemed appropriate to plant another cache in his honor... one that could not be touched by water from the Sacramento River... and in a place which was crying out for a cache placement.
We knew the right place was about 10 miles west of Lovelock, Nevada, about 2 miles to the east of the rest area. :p
This cache should provide a distraction from the drive across Nevada, and if time permits, you may wish to check out the legacy of Lovelock, Nevada.
The cache is a half-gallon, round rubbermaid container.
The original cache contents are:
- Mini foam football
- Smiley face greeting card
- Sun block (SPF 30)
- Key tag key chain light
- Hair brush
- Hair clips (3 sets)
- T-Shirt iron-on from Cache on a Stick
- Log book
- Pen
The coordinates were taken with a Meridian Gold, with 9 birds at full strength and two WAAS birds, auto-averaged for 20 minutes.
We forgot to take an eTrex reading... we were distracted by another project! ;)
