Geocache Description:

PLEASE NOTE: this geocache is for foreign coins and trackables ONLY. Please no swag nor USA coins!

This cache is located 12 feet off of the Topsfield Rail Trail, a brochure can be downloaded from the Related Web Page link above.

I am a numismatist (collector of coins and currency), and I wanted to offer a foreign coin theme. Have pocket change left over from your last international trip? Feel free to deposit it here, it will be re-purposed and loved! If you want to swap with what you find in the cache, please swap 1:1, don't worry about the value difference between a rupee and a drachma. Finally, we have started the cache with over a dozen coins from each continent, please only swap for these baggies one per household. If you remember to do so, please log the nationalities of the coins you leave.

The cache is not seasonal, BUT THE PARKING IS! In late September / early October there is a large to-do in Topsfield that affects parking at Lots D and E. Please read our waypoint notes! When "America's oldest agricultural fair" kicks in, knowledge of these parking spots is ESPECIALLY valuable because Route 1 REALLY backs up (so approach from the east)!

The container is a 5”x5”x3” Lock-'n'-Lock and is Park-N-Grab easy from two of the three parking options. Muggles abound, though, so be stealthy.

First-To-Find prize is a foreign coin rarer than our usual leave, a Portuguese silver coin from 1943 that features a carrack (visit link) on its obverse, and their national coat-of-arms on the reverse. If you too like coins, please consider our cache in nearby Ipswich: "Birds, Horses and Coins (formerly JBR)" GC31N2H. (visit link) Co-FTF honors go to Captainlamp and Real Hoot, whose nocturnal activities snagged the prize -- well done!
