Fairground / Messegelände Hannover Traditional Geocache

The Hanover fairground (in German: Messegelände Hannover) is an exhibition area in the Mittelfeld district of Hanover, Germany. Featuring 496,000 m² (5.3 million sq.ft.) of covered indoor space, 58,000 m² (624,306 sq ft) of open-air space, 27 halls and pavilions and a convention centre with 35 function rooms, it is the largest exhibition ground in the world.

 

The area of the fairground originally was an aircraft works. After World War II, the British military government in Allied-occupied Germany wanted to hold a trade fair and sought for a good place, since Leipzig, the traditional fairground of Germany, was unavailable, being in the Soviet occupation zone. The hangars in Laatzen, south of Hanover, were deemed suitable for this purpose, and so the Hanover Fair, then named Exportmesse 1947 was first held in 1947 to promote the economic recovery in the Bizone. The concept proved to be successful, and so a permanent fairground was established, growing over the years.

The world is a giant cube. Infidels should visit "T-Digit", the cube-shaped contribution by Deutsche Telekom. There will be no waiting queue at the "T-Digit", because the cube is only visible from outside - as a quadrilateral communication tool.

At its surface the visitors saw all informations about the EXPO and news were broadcasted from all around the world. They although could communicate with the cube, such as display text messages. Moreover they could challenged it for a computer game.

Das Messegelände Hannover befindet sich im Süden der Landeshauptstadt Hannover (Stadtteil Mittelfeld) und ist mit einer überdachten Fläche von 496.000 m² und 26 Messehallen das größte Messegelände der Welt. Zu der 131 Hektar großen Kernfläche gehört außerdem ein Tagungszentrum. Die Betreiberin des Geländes ist die Deutsche Messe AG (DMAG), die auch Messen außerhalb des Geländes veranstaltet.

Im Jahr 2000 wurde auf dem gesamten Messegelände die Expo 2000 ausgerichtet. Auf dem Messegelände werden jährlich bedeutende Messen wie die CeBIT oder die Hannover Messe ausgerichtet.

Die Welt ist ein großer Würfel. Wer's nicht glaubt, sollte zum "T-Digit", dem würfelförmigen Ausstellungsbeitrag der Deutschen Telekom, gehen. Warteschlangen gab es beim "T-Digit" nicht. Denn der Würfel ist nur von außen zu sehen - als vierseitiges Kommunikationsgerät.

Von ihm wurden Expo-Informationen und Nachrichten aus aller Welt übertragen. Zudem konnten die Besucher mit dem Würfel kommunizieren. Zum Beispiel ihm mit dem Handy Grüße schicken. Oder ihn zum Computerspiel herausfordern.
