Património ambiental, fonte de águas cristalinas cercadas por um arvoredo majestoso, local de merendas com mesas e bancos de pedra, é um destino de lazer que convida a belos passeios e piqueniques.
Durante séculos, as águas correntes da ribeira, abastecidas pela Fonte Grande, alimentavam a aldeia, serviam para curtir o esparto, eram utilizadas pelas lavadeiras e regavam as hortas em seu redor.
Hoje, após vários melhoramentos, a Fonte Grande é uma verdadeira piscina, aproveitada por muitos para se banharem nas suas águas límpidas que dão saúde ao corpo.
Ao longo do ano recebe a visita de milhares de turistas, nacionais e estrangeiros, atraídos pela beleza da paisagem bucólica.
É junto à Fonte Grande que se realizam os tradicionais festejos do 1º de Maio e festivais de folclore, que dão movimento, cor e alegria a toda a aldeia de Alte.

For centuries, the running water of the river, supplied by Fonte Grande, fed the village, used for tanning "esparto", were used by washerwomen and watered the gardens around it.
Today, after several improvements, the Fonte Grande is a real pool, harnessed by many to bathe in its clear waters that give health to the body.
Throughout the year is visited by thousands of tourists from home and abroad, attracted by the beauty of the bucolic landscape.
It is adjacent to the Fonte Grande who perform the traditional festivities of May 1st and folklore festivals, which give movement, color and joy to the whole village of Alte.
