On The Way to the Real Hogback Mountain Traditional Geocache

Most people around here know about the old Hogback Mountain Ski Area. What most people don't realize is the the ski area is on Mount Olga -- the real Hogback Mountain is over here. There is now a trail leading right to it. Here is the last trail junction to get you pointed in the right direction.

There are several loops of unmarked and unmapped mountain bike and hiking trails over here near the real Hogback Mountain. From the large parking area/trail head on Route 9, follow the White's Loop trail to an unmarked trail junction. Stay on the trails to get to the cache -- it's much easier than bushwhacking through these woods.

You will be looking for a little green container stuck in a place not far from a trail intersection. You can unhook the loop and then place back the same way so it stays.

The trail north from here leads to the summit of Hogback Mountain. The trail loops around to a possible lookout over Route 9. There's not much of a view, most of the time. To get back follow the trail back to this spot. There's only one way up and back.
