Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series of Geocaches hidden in different countries and even continents! The series has ten caches including one bonus cache. To obtain the coordinates for the bonus you need to find the other nine first. It's not easy, you will have to visit 6 continents and 10 countries to complete the series! Cache N° 3 is hidden in Freiburg, Germany.

The World Tour

The series was originally initiated by Camborne Round Table from Redruth, Cornwall, England, but now involves many different owners from all over the world. The other caches are located in Brazil (N° 1), Canada (N° 2), Qatar (N° 4), South Africa (N° 5), Australia (N° 6), USA (N° 7), Scotland, Japan, and New Zealand. We were privileged to be asked to place N° 3 in Germany. For detailed information on the series please check the page of the bonus cache GC4V27W or the corresponding bookmark list.

Information on the area of N° 3

Freiburg is a city in southwest Germany with a population of about 230,000 inhabitants. The city is known for its medieval university and minster, as well as for its high standard of living and advanced environmental practices. Freiburg is situated in the heart of a major wine-growing region and serves as the primary tourist entry point to the scenic beauty of the Black Forest. According to meteorological statistics, the city is the sunniest and warmest in Germany and holds the German temperature record of 40.2 °C.

The Cache

The box is hidden on a hill (820 meters above sea level) close to Freiburg. A good starting point for your hike/ride is the concrete foal near the given park coordinates. The path is well sign-posted with a blue rhombus and leads you in approx. one hour up to the peak of Kybfelsen. On your way you will pass the ruins of the old Kyburg castle and you can enjoy the wonderful view over the Upper Rhine Valley to the Vosges mountains in France.

tl;dr
