Geocache Description:

Murex spp.

The Winkle scientific name Murex spp., Is commonly known by its shell-shaped spindle.

The Conch is the common name for various aquatic gastropod molluscs, including species of the families and Buccinidae Ranellidae, particularly in gender and Bucino Charonia. It may also refer tuberous Cassis and species of the family Ranellidae containing members known as Triton.

Curiosity: Previously people used the shells to produce a sound, and so communicated between them ... After clean and very dry, with help of a stone departed the lower end of the conch in order to get air ... Then with enough strength and aptness,  blew the conch, this sound could be heard at quite km's away.

In Meco this technique was used to warn the whole village, when the boats were fishing, practicing Xávega art [see cache 'Arte Xávega”], was a practical and easy way to call 'his entire crowd.'
