On Saturday May 3rd meet up at the posted coordinates and get ready to have some fun! Instructions will be given at 9:45 and you will be released at 10:00 am and returning by 2:00 pm.
Team sign up will be from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. You must register your full team prior to leaving. This will be used as the log sheet.
The Cedar Rapids Geo Run is a fast paced puzzle where your job is to explore the Cedar Rapids city which holds the pieces to this adventurous puzzle. The more you know about the city the better off you will do. Do you have to know the city like a tour guide? Nope! Think on your feet, be ready for anything and you'll have a shot to win.
Individuals or teams (no more than 4 people) solve clues, tackle challenges and race to the finish line for prizes in this all out test of smarts and speed.
In short your job will be to accomplish tasks both physical and/or mental to gain points which will be tallied up at the end of the race. The individual or team with the most points will win.
Great efforts have been put in place to not award, or penalize, those that will be participating alone or in a group.
As a team or individual, it’s smart to have the following:
- GPSr
- Bag to hold your goodies
- Smart phone (fully charged)
- Digital Camera
- Pen(s) to solve the clues and map out your route
- A few dollars cash - some tasks may require purchasing a small item.
These items are not required but you may be severally handicapped if you do not have one or all of these things.
Expectations: - You will be driving around town, we strongly suggest you obey all traffic laws.
- You will be interacting with the general public (muggles), be nice and they will be nice back to you.
- You will be timed so be conscious to this fact.
- Everyone is a winner but not everyone will go home with a prize so be prepared to compete.
- This event will be held rain or shine so prepare for the elements of the day.
I'm out of shape, can I do this? Yes, you can go at your own pace and should be able to compete on this course. Remember it may not be the most physical person or team that does well in this race but the smartest ones can come home with a prize.
