Geocache Description:

The Arkansas Geocachers Association is holding our Annual event on Saturday, June 7th at the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center in Fort Smith, AR

Please check out our landing page to see our sponsor list and what you can do to help us out this year! http://2014.arkgeocaching.org.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center sits on 170 acres of land in Fort Smith that were previously part of Fort Chaffee. The building overlooks Wells Lake, a popular local fishing and picnicking destination. Built in the fertile Arkansas River Valley, the center focuses on the wide variety of animals and birds that call the area home. In addition to resident Canada geese and small mammals and turtles calling the center home, many colorful songbirds stop by on their journeys to and from wintering grounds farther south. While many visitors come to the center for the interesting exhibits inside, just as many find the trails, native plants on the grounds and canoeing or fishing in the lake just as enjoyable. And of course...GEOCACHING!

Update!

Arkgeo, along with sponsors, are covering the cost of Saturday's Meal and the Hot Dog Roast that night! We are asking all members of Arkgeo to help make our funds go further by bringing a favorite beverage to share and/or a dessert or side item. Please post or use the e-mail form below to let us know what everyone is bringing. Any shortfalls will be picked up before the event.

9 a.m. : All Coordinates for temp/camo contest caches to be turend in so eveyrone can upload them.

9:15 a.m. : Temp/Camo contest caches will be available to upload and everyone can go find these caches.

11:30 a.m. - Noon : Temp/Camo contest participants need to retrieve their caches and bring back to event table so others can see. Please do not remove before 11:30 to give everyone ample time to discover.

12:30 p.m.: Lunch

1:30 p.m.: General Membership Meeting

2 p.m.: Games, Contests, Prizes!

3 p.m.: Wrap up!

Contest this year will include:
Best Camo Cache Contest/non-traditional - This year instead of displaying the containers on a table the entrants will put their cache out as a temporary cache for the event in their intended environment. This also allows the participants to place caches that would usually be destroyed by nature, not allowed because of rules, or because it would be easily muggled.

Please make plans to set it up before the event or before 9 a.m. so we can get the coordinates out to everyone who wants to find them. Finders will then vote on their favorite after visiting all of them. We hope this will boost temp cache placement at our events by having some of the most unusal and creative caches. Each participant will get an extra prize ticket and each completed contest form will get a prize ticket.

Ammo Can Toss - will be back again this year! We will have space this year and many folks missed having it last year.

GeoBingo
- Always a fun way to walk or run around and meet fellow cachers. This is fun for green and seasoned cachers alike. Particpants will recieve an extra prize ticket for completed forms.
Bobbing for the cache! - It's June in Arkansas, it's time we included some water fun in our games to cool off a bit. Based on the traditional "bobbing for apples" but with film canisters instead.
