Geocache Description:

My strength cometh from the hills

This is the first of a few Historical location caches placed around the Harrisville district.
The cache is easy to find - its all about showing you a relic from the past.
The rock was originally deposited next to Bidawee Rd (part of Yellow Wings Rd) in Glacial times.
During the 1880's an industrious person carved the basin with the powerful words in the title.
This was likely done because the rock basin was along the way between the towns of Dublin and Roxbury.
It provided fresh water for horses, oxen and travellers along the way.

In 1950 Peter Keough moved the rock to the present location
because of a continuous small supply of fresh water.
This was because of objections of Edgar Seaver.
Peter build a sluice of thick board to keep it supplied with water.

In 1960 Bob Forney repaired the sluice with 2 x 12s and new piping.
He later made repairs to the sluice in Concrete and Polythene piping.

Take a moment when signing the log to imagine the days gone by
when stopping for a drink on horseback!
