Brutal Swim Traditional Geocache

The cache site, located at a swimming pool, has an interesting history and architecture.

The site is named after the 17th Prime Minister of Australia.  Harold Holt served in Parliment for 32 years, and was Prime minister for only 22 months before he went missing while swimming, presumed drowned at Cheviot Beach on the Mornington Pennisula.  While he was Prime Minister he increased Australias commitment to the Vietnam War with the United States.  His death has been surrounded with controversy, it has been suggested that his disappearance was staged and that he was picked up by a Chinese submarine.    It is somewhat ironic that a swimming pool is named after a Prime Minister who was presumed drown.

The architecture of the building is said to be one of the clasic examples of late 1960's Brutalism.  A style dominated by blocky concrete forms, which is often described as ugly, and unlikely to be repeated.  It is listed on the Victoria’s Heritage Register.

The cache is only small in size, custom made to fit the location.  Bring your own pen and there is no room for swaps or trackables.
