Geocache Description:

PRETORIA GeoArt Series

Welcome to PRETORIA!

The Pretoria geocaching community is very proud to present PRETORIA, the largest GeoArt series to date in South Africa.

Aside from its rich cultural history, Pretoria is also home to an extremely active geocaching community. The Pretoria geocachers are a very social bunch and meet at least once every month to share stories, swap experiences and trackables and enjoy each other's company. During one of our get-togethers, the idea of putting our beautiful city well and truly on the geocaching map was born. It started off as a small idea but we soon realised that it would be a huge undertaking. When the call for interested parties went out, the local community responded true to spirited Pretoria form and soon all 85 caches were allocated to 21 different teams. The PRETORIA GeoArt community project commenced in January 2014 and was completed six months later in June 2014.

We hope you will enjoy exploring our beautiful city of PRETORIA.

The cache is not hidden at the given Co-ordinates. In order to find the final co-ordinates, you need to solve a simple puzzle, using the Mystery Wheel. The cache is hidden in a small part of a well- known hiking trail in the Lynnwood Area of Pretoria

The Mystery Wheel is in the images below. You must print the image and cut out the two wheels. Pin them together (The smaller one on top). They should be held tightly together, but still turn freely.

THE FINAL CO-ORDINATES ARE:

5DG FG. GHC

QLDJ CI. GEC

To obtain the "KEY" (E.g. "K5"), & get the Mystery Wheel going, you need to do the following:

This Hiking Trail has been Allocated to a certain type of Bird. Which Bird is it?

1) Take the Letter of the First Word.

2) Take the Value of the Letter (e.g. A=1, B=2,etc) of the Second Word.

The cache has been hidden along a popular Hiking Trail in Pretoria. It is only a 10 to 15 minutes casual walk, so bring along some comfortable shoes.

The Entrance of the Hiking Trail is in Bouvardia Avenue & has been marked as an Additional Waypoint (Trailhead)

This part of the hiking trail has been allocated to "The Spotted Eagle Owl Project".

We would not recommend you to attempt doing this cache at night!!!! The gates to the Hiking Trail are open from 06H00 to 18H00

The container is big enough for Trackables and Trade Items

Please replace the container properly again, else it does make it easy for muggles to discover.
