Geocache Description:

The Inaugural Arkansas 20,000 Club Event Attendees
(Less coon&bud, who had to leave early)

Honoring rklmbl !!!

We are excited and privileged to invite you to the first event to induct a geocaching member or team into the Arkansas 20,000 Club. In order to be inducted into this club, you must have found 20,000 geocaches, none of which can be your own. You must be a resident of Arkansas (or immediate area in a neighboring state) and actively contribute to the Arkansas geocaching community with your time and cache hides.

Ron and Maribeth Laster, aka rklmbl, are currently the Number One geocaching team in Arkansas for cache finds and clearly everyone's favorite Geocaching couple. They have volunteered many hours over the years promoting this wonderful sport/hobby, as event hosts and Board/Committee Members of the Arkansas Geocachers Association. As of February 21, 2014, they have hosted 27 events and hidden 355 caches -- some devious, some simple, some hilarious, and all fun!

On January 4, 2014, Ron and Maribeth found their 20,000th geocache! It was "5 ~ 4 ~ 3 ~ 2 ~ 1" (GC4NBG9) and here is their Found It log for that occasion:

What an adventure! We cached in wind chills in Texas on Thursday morning that had to be in the single digits because the temps were in the 20s and it was howling on the Texas plains with nothing to slow it down but a bunch of thorny mesquites with caches. But we were determined to not leave there until we had another 43 caches so we could hit 20,000 today before the storms hit here. After a lot of DNFs...11... we finally got our 43 caches, headed to Babe's in Cedar Hill to celebrate with fried chicken and all the fixins then headed home. Got up this morning and drove to Russellville for this cache. We picked your cache because of its creativity and fun but mostly because of your friendship. Every time we get close to a milestone, rkl picks a cache owner that is special to us and we go find one of their caches.

When we arrived and were walking into the woods, we saw you two walking towards us carrying signs and balloons and cameras. All right. This is going to be fun! mbl had printed the directions and we started working our way through them. Then we were joined by a muggle (Ken and Sue's neighbor who owns the land). Took off the cap, found Bob (mbl LOVES Bob), and began the process...knowing something was going to happen. When it did, we jumped and laughed and wanted to see it again...but we wanted the log signed first. Photos were taken.

Then we were taken by the CO to their amazing home for a tour and visit and fed a delicious brunch. It was the icing on the cake of a truly wonderful morning for us. Thank you so much for the cache, for the brunch, and for your friendship. You two are special people whom we'd never have met if not for geocaching.

Please join us in celebrating this huge milestone with rklmbl! Since they have hidden so many caches for all of us to hunt, we thought it would be fun if each attendee brings a cache container for them that is ready for them to hide, with a log and swag if appropriate. (Of course, this is totally optional on your part.) Also, if you have any special geocaching memories or stories about our honored guests, please be prepared to share them with us.

What?

Induction of rklmbl into the Arkansas 20,000 Club! Just a chance to honor a GREAT geocaching couple on their achievement and to meet other geocachers from all over Arkansas (and elsewhere!). It will also be an opportunity to discuss geocaching while enjoying a meal and enjoying each others company.

Where?

Italian Gardens in the historic downtown area of Russellville (See the coordinates above). When our honored guests were asked where they would like for us to hold the event, they immediately responded that they wanted it to be here! We will meet in the back banquet room.

When?

Saturday, May 3rd, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM or so.

Your hosts:

Nukeworker, Racquetball Girl, and Old River Runner

Please note that each attendee will be responsible for his or her own food and drink. The manager of the restaurant has agreed that persons attending this event will not be required to purchase anything. However, please do not bring your own food or drink into the restaurant!

Bring your appetite and your best stories about rklmbl to share with us all!

Please post a "Will Attend" note by 9 PM on Thursday, 5/1/14 if you think you will be coming, including the number in your party, so that we can let the restaurant know how many to expect. This will help them have enough places set for us and also have enough wait persons on duty to serve us as well as the other customers that day, in a timely manner!
