How Geocaching Works

Please note

Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This geocache is a multi-stage cache and it will test your detective skills, your math skills, your navigational skills, your knowledge of history, your trail finding skills, and your knowledge of surveying terms.

Please read ALL the following information before going on the hunt. You will be doing some driving and a little walking to solve this one. Up until Waypoint P, ALL of this route is accessible via paved roads and sidewalks. The final short hike is entirely on trails. Total driving is under 6 miles and total hiking is about 3/4 mile round trip.

1. Start at Waypoint 1 listed above. Find Harold Hammon and get two 4-digit numbers from him. Treat these numbers as offsets (in the form of m.mmm) to be added to the minutes of latitude and longitude of False Waypoint 2 to get TRUE Waypoint 2 - 1st for lat, 2nd for long. (False Waypoint 2 = N 33º 37.601' W 112º 05.409')

2. Go to the vicinity of True Waypoint 2. (Note: this is NOT on private property.) Follow the advice of Horace Greeley on where to go and then look for 25 (about 2 furlongs away). Here you will find 2 more partial waypoints (only the minutes - no degrees). Waypoint GC is for the cache. Waypoint P is for the suggested parking location. Please park at or near the above parking location. It's on a cul-de-sac and not the persons driveway. Then follow the fence up and around, down the concrete, across the wash and up to Waypoint GC. You should be able to stay on trails all the way. If you find Linda and Paul, you've gone a little too far.

Happy hunting.
