What: CITO
Where: Columbia Bottom Conservation Area
When: Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 1:00pm
Columbia Bottom CA is the home to lots of wildlife. Here you can find white-tailed deer, coyotes, turkeys and bald eagles, just to name a few. Let's combine our efforts to clean up part of their home.
The area chosen has several large items which need removed like barrels, metal bed frames and even a bath tub! There are also lots of smaller pieces to be picked up.
The Missouri Department of Conservation will supply trash bins, leather gloves, and trash-grabbers. The area is very wet and swampy, so rubber boots are recommended. You may also bring your own leather gloves if you have any.
We will meet at the parking lot near the maintenance shop. Snacks and water will be provided. Please bring your own refillable water bottle. The nearby Visitor Center will be open from 8am to 4pm.
Plan time to do some caching. There are seven caches at Columbia Bottom, including two earthcaches which leads you on a journey to visit the Confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, the two greatest rivers in North America. There are also other caches to be found in the local area.
Groundspeak is making this a memorable CITO weekend. "Each person who logs an “Attended” for a CITO event on April 26 or April 27 this year earns a 2014 CITO souvenir for their Geocaching profile. They also earn a sense of accomplishment and probably a few finds along the way."
