The foundation of the small church dedicated to Our Lady of Franqueira is traditionally attributed to Egas Moniz , although older architectural elements of the current structure of the temple date back to the fifteenth century .
The flatness of the temple would be quite transformed over the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries , increasing the volume of the building and significantly altering the facade .
The primitive structure corresponds to the hermitage rectangular body of the chancel , which preserves the primitive Romanesque cornice taste and Gothic ribbed vault .Inside is an altar brought from Ceuta by Afonso , Count of Barcelos about 1415. 's Space ship was built later , perhaps as early as the seventeenth century , since the door of the sacristy has engraved the date 1691.
The façade presents a model of vertical lines whose decorative program makes the transition between the ground Baroque style and taste . The portal , simple rectangular frame , is flanked by two janelos and surmounted by a large bay window with iron guard . The whole is surmounted by a triangular pediment with niche that houses the statue of the Virgin , and the right tower was built in 1753 by Pedro Simões Gomes .
