In and Around Little South Pond
is a seven stage kayak tour of the pond with another cache along the way. It explores an area that the Town of Plymouth has recently opened up for recreational activities after being off limits for years when it was part of the back up drinking water supply. Though some remnant “No Trespassing” signs remain, they can safely be ignored. The roadside “No Parking” signs are still for real and should be respected. See the Local Boundary Map for the limits of the town property and the available parking areas in it. Do not park on the road. Fishing, hiking, and paddling are encouraged here, but swimming is not allowed in Little South Pond.
Updated 6/25/18 . The locations of six stages are provided for you to download in advance. At each stage you will find at least one marker with a number. Everything is in plain sight, including the final. Numbers should be easy to spot once you get close. Small cache with log and pencil only Just remove the top to retrieve the log leaving cache in place...Midway through is a takeout spot where you can hike or portage across the isthmus to find Folio Portage near the shore of Great South Pond. Here there is a beach and some hiking trails and the only public access to Great South Pond I'm aware of. Please be respectful of private property.
Once you have all the numbers, solve for the final. Please replace as found. Though this was designed as kayak/canoe cache and everything was set in place without leaving the boat or getting wet, it may be possible to do this on foot. But boy, will you be soaked and scratched by the end. Hope you have as much fun finding it as I had setting it out! Enjoy,
