Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Canonchet Farm Trail.  Learn more about the trail and area and download a map here on the Friends of Canonchet Farm website: Click Link
Or pick up a trail map and brochure at the trailhead in the mailbox conveniently located at the eastern trailhead.

A Glacial Erratic is a piece of rock that does not match the size and type of rock in its surrounding area because it was carried and then deposited by a glacier.  This one is right on the trail!

The Boulder throws the gps coordinates off a little bit, therefore our hint is very specific!

This cache will be hard to find under deep snow, but should be available most days of the year.  Poison ivy is easily avoided by staying on the trail and you do not need to venture into poison ivy to find the cache.  Even if you stay on the trail, we recommend a thorough tick check as these little critters are present nearly all year round.

PARKING:
The closest trail head to the cache is the easternmost.  It is on Route 1A across the street from Narragansett Town Beach.  Brown and white ‘Canonchet Farm Trail’ signs featuring a hiker will guide you to a parking area open from 8:30am to midnight.  They charge for parking on busy summer beach days.

Another access point to the trail is at the South County Museum.  From the parking area, head down the dirt road known as Annie Hoxsie Lane and bear right as the road bears right.  After passing the Southern field, the dirt road turns right and shortly after that you will see the trail entrance on your left.  If you choose this parking area, pay attention to the Museum hours as the parking lot closes and you could be trapped for the night!

The third access point is at the other end of the trail at a parking lot behind the Narragansett Community Center.  The lovely walk from that entrance is about a mile and a half.
