This is the most Northern geocache placed to date.
This geocache was created by the crew of Iceshelf 2002. Iceshelf
2002 was a field trial carried out by Defence Research and
Development Canada (Atlantic and Ottawa). Participants in the field
trial included personnel from SPAWAR San Diego, Benthos Inc.,
University of Victoria, and Atmospheric and Environment
Services.
We have endured a month of camping on the ice of Jolliffe Bay,
many visits by local polar bears, foxes, wolves and lemmings. 19
March - 16 May 2002. Enjoy our cache!
Container: white cubic plastic container with handle inside a
green Reid's dairy milk crate. Container is within a cairn built
from local rocks. It is located in the lee of a large rock, see the
photos.
WARNING there is a cairn nearby with a plaque on it built as a
memorial to David Baade, do not mistake this for the cache!
