Welcome to West Pearl Street!
Technically I guess you're on Garden Street.. Not that West Pearl Street doesn't play a major role in the downtown area today, it used to be the "place to be" nearly a century ago if you were a business owner. The street was lined with pharmacies (like Victor Lussier's Parmacy across the street from the cache at 83 West Pearl Street and the Matsis Pharmacy at 109). It contained a confectioners at 101 and doctors offices as well. If you go back to the mid 1850's you'd find the Pearl Street School which functioned as Nashua's first high school prior to the unification with Nashville. Part of that original building still stands today (easier seen from School Street). This year (2014) "Vivian's Dream" was painted on the east side of 83 West Pearl showing what the street looked like in the past including the Tremont House hotel (originally the Pearl Street House). The Nashua Manufacturing Company National Historic District is just over a block away.
