Desde a descoberta da Madeira, os agricultores têm terrenos nas “Fajãs” do cabo Girão. Deslocavam-se por barco, quando o mar estava calmo, ou usando os 1100 degraus da vereda para descer e subir.
Nestas “Fajãs” podemos encontrar pedra de cantaria que foi usada na construção de alguns monumentos importantes da cidade do Funchal. Um deles a construção da Catedral da Sé, alguns prédios da zona velha ostentam cantaria oriunda da Fajã do Cabo Girão.
É um excelente local para um dia de praia calmo e sem as confusões das praias mais frequentadas. Como chegar? Dispõe de várias formas ara alcançar a Fajã do Cabo Girão.
- De Teleférico diariamente entre as 09h00 e as 19h30.
- Através de barco.
- A Pé pela antiga vereda de acesso ao calhau.
