In days of old locals would build stone walls across the narrow opening to trap alewives, white perch & smelt that entered the lagoon to spawn.
This cache can be accessed by land but would not recommend it. A boat will bring you to this cache which is at the entrance to a fun & scenic spot. When we entered the lagoon we were greeted by an osprey screeching above us as snowy egrets hunted along the shore. What a great spot, we just had to share with others. Hope you enjoy. We launched our kayaks at Marina Park in South Kingston. Year round facility with free parking.
Bring a pen! Congrats to the northern RI team of RFD & KatNDogz
