Geocache Description:

As many local cachers may already know, North Tonawanda's most famous cacher (with apologies to MsBusyMom, anyone named Binkley or anyone on a Budget) retired from her job in June, and is tentatively scheduled to move down to North Carolina in October, 2014. This calls for a going away bash, on Sunday, September 21st. And at the scene of the event held in honor of her 1,000th find in 2006 (which was a big deal back then). Namely:

American Legion Post 264
60 Main Street
Tonawanda, N.Y. 14150
Time: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Coords at the top of the page should take you right to the proper entrance for the event, a side, but front facing door. It is labeled "Bar and Lounge entrance" on the door. Go down the stairs, the event is in the basement. Signs will point the way. There is plenty of on street parking in downtown Tonawanda, especially on a Sunday. There is also a municipal parking lot slightly NW of the posted coordinates that has entrances from both Adam Street and Broad Street. And of course the Buffalo Bills-San Diego Chargers game will be on TV. This is a Legion Post, after all. It may or may not be on in our room, but it will be on in the bar, which has 3 TV's.

We choose the time for the event so as not to interfere with a Noon Flash Mob in Genesee County that was listed long before this event on the same day. With a mid afternoon event, we have decided snacks, finger foods and desserts will suffice. The organizing committee will provide complimentary bottled water and snacks (chips, pretzels, etc..). But we will gladly accept donations. Do you make a killer artichoke dip? Succulent stuffed mushrooms? Amazing cupcakes? If you can help out, be sure to mention what you're bringing in your will attend log.

We are allowed to bring all the food we want, as well as the bottled water. But Soda and adult beverages must be purchased from the bar. But being an American Legion post, you can expect very reasonable prices.

One of the members of the organizing committee is a member of the post, so the spacious hall rental comes at a highly discounted rate, but is certainly not free. We will be holding a 50/50 drawing to offset the cost of the rental. There will be door prizes! We have donations from Drives Cache Closet, GXProxy and Cache-Advance, as well as a few private donations from cachers. We should have at least 10 door prizes, as well as unnamed complimentary items for showing up.

What people have signed up to bring:
  • guinea gal: Taco Salad
  • Dory The Explorer: Zuchini Bread
  • Dragonflyby: A dozen smile cookies
  • Deadliest Cachers: Chow Mein Noodle Doodles
  • havocgeo: Noodle Salad
  • shopkprbass: Brownies
  • B.S. Dru: Deviled eggs
