Geocache Description:

Another puzzle cache located in Goffstown. It relates to the MLB World Series.

This cache was inspired by a similar one in Barrington, RI. That cache (GC1WP7F) was recently archived before we could complete it.

The listed coordinates are bogus, but ARE within .1 mile of the container.

Every year all Major League Baseball teams play with one goal in mind: to win the World Series. Each World Series is filled with good and bad memories for the two teams involved (almost all good for the winner and almost all bad for the loser). However, there is usually one player on the losing team that must have the worst memories of all; the player that made the final out of the series (or otherwise blundered) and gave the opposing team the championship. This player is forever recorded in history and has the dubious honor of being the last out of the World Series. Every year, someone must have this honor of being the final out (unless the series ends with a walk-off hit, sacrifice fly, wild pitch, passed ball, etc.).

To find the cache, solve the below puzzle that is all about these individuals:

43 HI.JKL  71 MN.OPQ

NORTH 43

H = Brooks Robinson fielded a ground ball hit by Pat Corrales and then threw him out at first to win the 197H World Series.

I = Jimmy Wilson popped out to right field in 193I.

J = Pete Rose popped out to left field in 19J2.

K = Marty Barrett struck out in 198K.

L = Max Bishop flew out to center field to end the 193L World Series.

WEST 71

M = Honus Wagner struck out to end the very first World Series, which was played in the year 190M.

N = All Red Sox fans should remember this one. Keith Foulke got Edgar Renteria to hit a chopper back to the mound to end the 200N World Series and give the Sox their first championship in 86 years.

O = Gary Maddox lined out to shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. in 198O.

P = Aaron Ward was thrown out trying to advance to third base in 192P. To this number ADD 2 to get "P".

Q = How many Hall of Fame players have been the final out of a World Series? Subtract SEVEN from this number for Q.

The cache is a micro container. Please do not remove the container from its "attachment."
